Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated.
Clients
I have worked on numerous of opportunities that have contributed millions to some of the largest Fortune 100 companies.
Better design, better experiences.
The majority of my career was spent working for some world-renowned corporations and building the skill sets that would define my career. As a designer and developer, I understand that the perfect end product should look good and work even better. Working together with my clients, I have uncovered problems and solved the most complex ones. In short, I create bolder online experiences.
Now, I am not here to just make your product look amazing, I am here to make it work. Happy users result in profitable businesses! I have been a firm believer in the human element of design and knowing your audience. Your user wants to have a great experience with your brand, and I can make that happen. Below is a few of the clients I have worked with:
My process sharpened over 15 years of experience. Efficient and easygoing, I aim to build open and informal collaborations to reach mutual ambitions.
Below is a graph detailing a few of the deals I have worked on, including the company it was for, the deal status, and how much the deal was worth. Each deal was particularly important, but I highlighted the ones that gained the most attention, this included major milestones and deliverables I created while working on the deal.
You will have many more Goals in the years ahead.
But do not confuse a Goal with a Purpose.
Leadership
Besides being hands on with visuals and development, I have led the design and creative direction of products, teams, and design systems that have crafted complex user journey’s and solved complicated problems.
Management Background
During the past 15+ years I have led teams in diverse industries including education, health, media, SaaS and non-profits, with projects for companies ranging from tiny startups to Fortune 500 corporations. My leadership has been instrumental in contributing millions to these same companies through a good understanding of the design process, coupled with great project management skills. Besides leading teams, I have represented some of the largest corporations at very pivotal meetings. One meeting in particular I represented my department at IBM at a manager directors’ meeting in Armonk, New York.
This meeting consisted of our CEO, Ginni Rometty, talking to directors of the largest accounts at IBM on how they could be more effective. Besides representing my division at this meeting I also created a web application for the managing director of Pfizer. This application was useful in showing him what we offered as a division. In addition to presenting at this meeting, I led over 16 internal projects which were important in changing the view of not only our division but, IBM as a whole. One internal project I worked on was creating web portals for some of the largest IBM accounts. Working with the account holder, I led a team in designing user interfaces for a variety of internal web portals for Morgan Stanley, Coca-Cola, MetLife and Verizon. This project helped to add millions of dollars to IBM’s bottom-line.
During the past decade I was the iteration manager of my department. Where I coached my team through design thinking workshops and used agile methodologies including daily stand ups, kanban, sprints and retrospective meetings.
As a manager, it is important to have a far-sighted vision to guide the team towards a clear goal. To that end, I led Design Thinking workshops and created a monthly global web development guild, where I mentored other designers and developers, around the globe, on the best practices in web development. Also, I have created applications that help us be more innovative and perform better as an overall department. In one project I created a microsite hosting application that stored all the sites we created as a division. Besides this web application, I have been a scrum master and led teams on creating projects for different departments. Some of these projects included a website I created for IBM’s Cloud division for their annual boot camp and a diversity flier I created for the Global women of IBM.
Design, development, and user experience strategy. This is a detailed process on how I approach producing the end solution through leadership, agile and design thinking concepts.
I have been requested to lead and manage various projects for a variety of different corporations. These past projects were just a few of the activities I worked on in my career.

Agile and Design Thinking Philosophy
It is important to understand your users together as a team. This involves engaging with them early and often, collectively defining and agreeing on problems, learning from them, and establishing empathy together as a team. My career begins with a solid foundation in fine art
Art has always been a part of my life. I first became interested in art at a young age through illustration and design. In 2005 I was granted the privilege of following this love to Xavier University of New Orleans. During my time at Xavier, I studied Fine Art and Graphic Design in which I learned the foundations of art through its principles, elements, and theories. Additionally, I learned the history and psychology of art which allowed me to understand that it was more than just visual aesthetics, but it was a deep understanding of the human behavior through perception, cognition, color theory, and characteristics of good design and its production.
My first design position
From 2007-2010, I was employed by the Vice President office of Florida A&M University as the lead graphic designer of the department. During my time at Florida University I created a wide range of branding, print, and corporate identity packages for the University. These projects included logos, business cards, annual reports, posters, pamphlets, and flyers for university events. Additionally, I worked hand in hand with the president and vice-president of the university to create a solid design standard and I started a newsletter which was delivered monthly throughout the university.
My first development position
In 2008, I was employed by the Environmental Sciences Department of Florida A&M University as the junior web developer and web administrator for the division. During this time, I completely managed the division website and was considered the “Go to” person for all senior level administrators, management, technicians, and developers for all their web and print design needs. Additionally, I successfully converted the departments website into a complete Content Management System.
My first teaching position
In 2010, I began teaching young children the importance of coding at a program called PAC (Program for Accelerated Careers in Computer Science) at Monmouth University in New Jersey. As an instructor of the PAC program I helped kids understand the importance of computation thinking and logic through building websites and problem solving. Additionally, I presented at various career days in schools throughout the area. At these presentations I expressed the importance of technology and how it plays an important role in everyday life.
My first leadership position
In 2010 I was employed at Vcom IMC as their Lead Graphic Designer and Senior Web Developer. During my employment at Vcom I designed, developed and managed a digital presence and communication’s strategy for a network of more than 20 ecommerce websites. I managed a team of designers using advanced design principles to produce various websites, applications, package designs, corporate layouts, and banners. In the course of my employment I completely rebranded the company and was an ongoing project manager for long-term multi-department projects, workflow revisions and new product development.
My current position
In 2014 I became employed by IBM as a lead Informational Designer and Web Developer for sales teams on proposals. As a designer for these teams I prototyped a variety of different design deliverables such as UI's, websites, applications, catalogs and infographics for Fortune 100 companies such as Google, Microsoft, Coca Cola, Citibank and MetLife. My designs were received highly around the globe which led to an increase in revenue to IBM’s bottom-line. Additionally, I led design thinking workshops on how to innovate with the speed of a startup through a fresh, agile approach to problem solving.
Rick Clayton
Director, Strategic Services
Very impressed with attitude, skills and teamwork. So much respect that he will be the only Designer on my deals upon request. Coming in and working long hours, working with team and then adjusting schedule to help in orals was a monumental ask. Jibari not only accomplished it... he did so impressively. Pay him more... He deserves it. :))
Lisa McQuiston
Executive Client Solution
Hi Jibari, I really appreciate your flexibility and innovative ideas to provide a simple yet compelling way to provide customers a way to consume the information we want to share with them in an interactive way. The microsites you have pulled together for my teams have enabled us to achieve very interactive and conversational presentations for our customers. It is always a pleasure working with you. You’ve gone above and beyond on every occasion. Thank you!
Gregory Guerin
Deal Strategist, SDS Q2C
I appreciate both your sense for clean design and your hard work ethic. I can always count on your designs to be appealing and to never overwhelm the message or solution content. For the most recent SDS Portal and YourLearning Companion microsites, you took our very, very primitive wire-frames and interpreted them into appealing, well-organized and easy to navigate pages. I loved the way you put yourself in the users’ shoes, making navigation intuitive with multiple and logical paths to rapidly find content. Your layouts are often more intuitive than the best of w3 sites.
